Improved Outcomes for Vulnerable Adults through Workforce Development

What is CAHSC?

CAHSC – Cornwall Adult Health & Social Care Learning Partnership – is an independent Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) formed by Members committed to the development of the adult health & social care workforce in Cornwall. CAHSC accesses and delivers funding for adult social care workforce training.

As a CIO (Charity No 1154505) it is managed by a group of trustees accountable to the Charity Commission. The trustees are elected by the membership. CAHSC's membership is representative of the wide range of stakeholders and is able to reflect the views of its membership.

CAHSC Members

CAHSC is a membership led organisation and members drive the direction and growth of the organisation. In order to truly represent the whole of the adult social care sector in Cornwall, CAHSC has always recognised that in order to work effectively, it must have an inclusive membership and an independent voice. Its Members are representative of:

  • private sector organisations
  • independent sector organisations
  • voluntary sector organisations
  • statutory sector organisations
  • large, medium and small organisations
  • people who use care services
  • and their carers

CAHSC's main focus has historically been to support workforce development in the adult social care sector by securing and distributing funding for

  • learning
  • training
  • development

CAHSC has been successful in attracting 'Objective One' and Convergence Funding together with funding through Skills for Care, which is the sector skills organisation for adult social care, and CAHSC has distributed this funding throughout the sector to eligible organisations.

CAHSC – Cornwall Adult Health & Social Care — History

CAHSC was formed in 2008 as a group of interested adult social care employers and trainers who were committed to furthering the development of the social care workforce. It was initially integrated into the Cornwall County Council Learning, Training and Development Unit, and is now independent of the County Council.

CAHSC – Cornwall Adult Health & Social Care — The Future

With its broad membership, CAHSC will address a wider brief to serve the needs of the wider adult social care community.

CAHSC will still enjoy the full support of Cornwall Council and as a charity CAHSC can now access new avenues of funding as it continues its commitment to improve the adult social care workforce in order to achieve the best outcomes for those who use adult social care services.
